It's a given that James Jr. has made some extraordinarily nice pieces -- I've sold a bunch of them and know a great one when it lands in my hands. This is one such piece -- quite special and one of his first hammered blades he forged in his new Montana shop. What I like the most is that this is a very large knife yet still extremely elegant, very few knife makers can pull this off. The build is fantastic: BIG hammer marked blade, nickel hilt, and of course the spectacular fossil handle. And it's large... really large... and heavy -- a proverbial "handful" of slicing, dicing, chopping madness.
The riveted brown Mosher sheath is equally nice with weave tooling on the front. Hand made for the knife -- fit / finish is exceptional. Smooth silver snap on the keeper strap -- the sheath is stamped by the maker on the back of the belt loop.
Bonus: black & OD green 550 paracord survival bracelet. Made in the USA, easy to use / wear / carry, and unraveled gives you just about 14 feet of lifesaving cord that will look great wrapped around your wrist until you need it.
11 photos for review -- this is a one of a kind knife / sheath combination that is worth every cent of my asking price... and then some. A handmade knife so beautifully finished with a gorgeous fossil handle should sell for twice as much, icing on the cake is that this was one of the first couple of hammer marked knives Jr. made in his new shop in Montana. This is a "top drawer / centerpiece" monster of a knife, one you want under glass so everyone can admire it. Thanks and good luck.
