Summary: one of two very unique, custom pieces purchased from the original owner many moons ago. This is beyond the realm of non catalog, never seen another like it. The script signed blade (Hand Made by James B. Lile) is 5-5/8" long, made from 3/16" stock. The stag slabs are extremely deep cut with awesome color -- overall length of the knife / cleaver is exactly 10".
Neither this nor the Bowie knife listed for sale ever came with sheaths -- the original owner stated he bought ALL his Jimmy Lile knives directly from Jimmy and Marilyn at shows down in Texas. This knife was laying out on the table, no sheath was with it and the owner didn't want to ask Jimmy to cart it all the way back to Arkansas just for leather. It is what it is, just as he snapped it off the table 35+ years ago.
Condition: excellent / unused. As with most all of Jimmy's early knives, you'll find a spot here and there, a blemish or two in the blade steel. Some tarnish / light wipe marks on the brass hilt and pins, mentioned more for accuracy than anything else.
10 photos for review -- as shown, I've included a custom brown suede case for storage. This is a great piece, very early and extremely rare. Thanks and good luck.
